The Expenses Scandal 2009: Remember all these crimes committed that we the People would have been imprisoned for? http://eotp.org/expenses-09/

References to ‘chauffeur-driven cars’ and a criminal arrest wiped from online biographies in run-up to election

Expense claims and a Westminster sex scandal were deleted from MPs’ Wikipedia pages by computers inside Parliament before the election, The Telegraph has found.
Details of a police arrest, electoral fraud allegation and the use of “chauffeur-driven cars” were also been wiped by people inside the Commons.
The revelation will raise suspicion MPs or their political parties deliberately hid information from the public online to make candidates appear more electable to voters.

More than a dozen online biographies of sitting MPs were doctored from computers with IP addresses owned by the Houses of Parliament in the run-up to the election.
Requests for comment were made to all the MPs in question via their party press offices, but just a handful replied to say the changes had nothing to do with them.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia, an online encyclopaedia kept up to date by users. However each change is tracked and linked to an IP address – a unique string of numbers that identifies each computer using an internet network.

By looking at the changes made by computers with IP addresses owned by the Houses of Parliament it is possible to see what edits are being made from inside the Commons.

The Telegraph has discovered persistent changes to MPs’ biographies made from Parliament in what appears to be a deliberate attempt to hide embarrassing information from the electorate.

ARTICLE: Fury as May announces she’ll disband child sex abuse inquiry panel – Exaro News

Theresa May: If she's making corrupt decisions over the child sex abuse inquiry, she'd better get used to seeing police officers [Image: Daily Telegraph].

Home Secretary Theresa May is to disband the panel for the overarching inquiry into child sex abuse, according to Exaro News. She wrote to each member of the panel at the end of last week to say that she is considering turning it into a statutory inquiry, or setting up a fresh statutory inquiry or a Royal Commission.

But her move has prompted fury among panel members. They are urging May to convert the inquiry to statutory status and keep the current panel.

You can read the rest of the article on the Exaro News website.

It seems Theresa May is saying she’ll get rid of the panel’s members in response to concerns about those members, raised by abuse survivors – but panel members have accused her of listening to a vocal minority set against the inquiry instead of the majority of those who have survived abuse.

Who could this minority be?

Well, in a leaked letter to Theresa May, panel member Sharon Evans states: “I was… informed by three men who did not know each other and all who described themselves as having no political axe to grind, that a senior politician has been having sex with young boys and his marriage is a sham.”

Hmm.

ARTICLE: New blow for May’s sex abuse probe as Diana inquest QC agrees to lead rival investigation because of government’s ‘serious shortcomings’

paedoWestminster

  • New investigation established to look into historic child abuse claims
  • It is to run in competition with the Home Secretary’s troubled inquiry
  • Theresa May’s inquiry beset by problems since it was first formed
  • Michael Mansfield QC has been appointed judge of the rival investigation

Theresa May’s troubled child abuse inquiry suffered a fresh setback last night as it emerged that a rival investigation is to be held by a top human rights lawyer.

Michael Mansfield QC, who represented Mohamed Al Fayed at the inquests into the deaths of Princess Diana and Al Fayed’s son Dodi, has been appointed as the judge of a new ‘people’s tribunal’ on historic abuse claims.

The Home Secretary’s official inquiry has barely started, even though it was launched several months ago.

First, ex-judge Baroness Butler-Sloss and then corporate lawyer Fiona Woolf had to resign from chairing it because of their links to figures alleged to have been involved in a cover-up of VIP paedophile rings.

But just like the Government’s inquiry, the new tribunal – set up by child abuse campaigners – has been beset by problems.

Only weeks after the steering committee was appointed, four members resigned, citing attacks on social media.

Home Secretary Theresa May's (pictured) troubled child abuse inquiry has now suffered a fresh setback with the formation of a rival investigation

Home Secretary Theresa May’s (pictured) troubled child abuse inquiry has now suffered a fresh setback with the formation of a rival investigation

Among them was ex-social worker Liz Davies, a leading child protection expert.

Organisers insist it is not in conflict with the Government’s inquiry but will instead complement it.

However, its website suggests that there will be an element of competition. It says: ‘This tribunal is necessary because the Government initiative has serious shortcomings.’

Questions have also been raised about its funding. Organisers say they hope to raise money from the public, partly by selling wristbands carrying the slogan ‘sweep away the secrecy’.

The tribunal will hold public hearings across Britain at which abuse survivors will tell their stories, and will produce a report within a year that will be submitted to Theresa May’s inquiry as well as other institutions.

As it is entirely unofficial, it has no legal powers requiring witnesses to come forward.

Mrs May will face questions from MPs tomorrow on the lack of progress with the investigation and the struggle to find a suitable chairman.

At least 100 names have been put forward after Mrs Woolf had to step down, following The Mail on Sunday’s revelation that she has close links to former Home Secretary Leon Brittan.

ARTICLE: MPs to escape expenses investigations after paperwork destroyed by Parliament

1Lets take a look at the rap sheet of the parasites in power: The Expenses Scandal 2009. Had we the public done the same we would have been imprisoned for theft, fraud, and tax evasion. Welcome to the two tier system where the parasites are by any objective measure evidently above the law.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE CONCEPT OF GOVERNMENT: “PARASITE: A creature which obtains food and physical protection from a host which never benefits from its presence.” (Chambers English Dictionary)

House of Commons authorities have destroyed all evidence of MPs’ expenses claims prior to 2010, meaning end of official investigations into scandal.

pigs[1]

MPs accused of abusing the unreformed expenses system will escape official investigation after the House of Commons authorities destroyed all record of their claims, the Telegraph can reveal.
John Bercow, the Speaker, faces accusations he has presided over a fresh cover-up of MPs’ expenses after tens of thousands of pieces of paperwork relating to claims made before 2010 under the scandal-hit regime were shredded.
Members of the public who have written to Kathryn Hudson, the standards watchdog, to raise concerns about their MP’s claims have been told there can be no investigation due to lack of evidence.
Under the House of Commons’ “Authorised Records Disposal Practice”, which is overseen by Mr Bercow’s committee, records of MPs’ expenses claims are destroyed after three years. The move is necessary to comply with data protection laws, a Commons spokesman said.
However, under that same set of guidelines, the pay, discipline and sickness records of Commons staff are kept until their 100th birthday. Health and safety records are kept for up to 40 years, while thousands of other classes of official documents on the day-to-day running of the House are stored indefinitely in the Parliamentary Archive.

ARTICLE: House of Perks: MPs claim record £103mn in expenses

1

MPs’ staff, travel and accommodation costs reached £103 million last year, up from £99 million the previous year and £95 million in 2009 – the peak of the parliamentary expenses scandal.

More than £80 million was spent on staff salaries and £11 million on office costs. The bill for accommodation, covering hotels, rented homes and utility bills, was £6.9 million, while £4.5 million were claimed for travel and subsistence.

The Democratic Unionist Party’s Jim Shannon had the biggest claim at £229,262, including £38,215 on travel and £12,126 on hotels.

The bill for MPs’ expenses reached record levels last year, as more politicians put their spouses and children on the public payroll.

A total of 170 MPs employed relatives, at a cost of more than £4 million. The previous year, 150 MPs had family members on the payroll.

Senior Conservatives who employ relations include Defence Secretary Michael Fallon and Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond. Laurence Robertson, the MP for Tewkesbury, employs his ex-wife and his wife. Anne Adams is paid £40,000 to £45,000 as a senior parliamentary assistant, while his ex-wife Susan Robertson gets paid £25,000 to £30,000 as a senior secretary.

Andy Silvester, from the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “Taxpayers will be deeply concerned that the cost of Westminster is going up again.

“David Cameron pledged to reduce the cost of politics after the excesses of the expenses scandal. Politicians must be held accountable for their promises. Combined with the ever-increasing number of peers, that promise looks increasingly difficult to keep.”

He added that there was “nothing wrong with employing family members if they’re qualified for the job, but there needs to be total transparency whenever that’s the case.”

The details were released in an annual report by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) on Thursday, which was set up to handle MPs’ pay after the 2009 expenses scandal.

In 2009, the Telegraph revealed that MPs misused their allowances for private purposes for years, causing public outrage. The political scandal resulted in arrests, resignations and dismissals, as well as public apologies and the repayment of expenses. Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, who claimed back expenses for her husband’s adult movies, was one of the high-profile politicians that were exposed.

IPSA chairman Sir Ian Kennedy said reforms to the system had saved £58 million over four years. He said: “Such is the progress made since the scandals which came to light in 2009, our work is attracting the attention of parliaments around the world.”

This week, Marcial Boo, IPSA’s chief executive, proposed that MPs should get a 9 percent pay rise next year, arguing that MPs did an important job and should not be paid a “miserly amount.” David Cameron, whose basic salary as prime minister is £142,500, has opposed the salary increase for MPs.

The basic annual salary for MPs currently stands at £67,060, two and a half times the UK average salary of £26,500.

ARTICLE: Newport market traders ban Labour councillors in parking protest

market traders parking protest

market traders parking protest

A group of traders in Newport have banned Labour council members from their businesses in protest over free parking being stopped.

Steve Reynolds, owner of Toy Army in Newport Market, launched the campaign after councillors voted against a motion which would have saved the city’s two-hour free parking.

Other businesses in the market have followed.

Newport Labour councillor Debbie Harvey said the move was “outrageous”.

Mr Reynolds said: “I had just had enough. It’s been one thing after another.

Considering they’re crying out for trade, banning 30-odd councillors is ridiculous”

Councillor Debbie Harvey

“We’ve been asking the council for help and relief.”

The motion was brought by opposition leader Matthew Evans urging the council to reverse its decision to axe the scheme, which allows shoppers to park for free for the first two hours in all its city centre car parks.

The motion was defeated with 10 councillors voting for it, 32 against and one abstaining.

Other businesses who have joined the campaign include Sys Barbers, Turner’s Butchers, Mr Fruit, City Fashions, Kriminal records, Negative Zone comic store and Chillis sweet shop.

Mr Reynolds said: “We’re really struggling as it is here. Myself and other traders are round about 60 to 70% down on last Christmas already.

“There’s no draw to this town as it is and this is going to do more damage. People just aren’t going to pay.”‘Absolutely outrageous’

But Labour councillor Debbie Harvey, of Alway ward, said the current administration had been left with millions of pounds of debt by the previous Conservative-Liberal Democrat administration so cutbacks had to be made.

“I think it’s absolutely outrageous. Considering they’re crying out for trade, banning 30-odd councillors is ridiculous. This definitely isn’t the way to tackle it,” she said.

“If you ask people on the street if they would rather pay 33p an hour to park or for people to lose their jobs, I’m sure 99.9% would say they would rather pay.

I proposed an alternative plan which is a voucher scheme, but it fell on deaf ears”

Councillor Chris Evans

“What they haven’t factored in is the five hours free parking between now and February.

“I feel for them but I feel for every business not just the market traders. There’s the whole of town as well but unfortunately with the debt we have got, it’s got to be tackled.

“In the current climate everyone has to tighten their belts.”

Councillor for Rogerstone Chris Evans said that he was the only Labour councillor not banned because he had abstained on the parking issue.

“The entire Labour group with the exception of myself voted to withdraw free parking. I proposed an alternative plan which is a voucher scheme, but it fell on deaf ears,” he said.

Mr Evans said the market is a council building and he had heard that some Labour councillors were disgruntled by the traders’ decision.

“But this is the consequence. The traders are at the end of their tether. They feel this potentially could be the last straw. This is make or break time for many businesses,” he said.

Ringland councillor Emma Corten told her followers on Twitter: “So I’ve just been told that as a Labour Councillor I’ve been banned from shopping in Newport Market. That’ll help, I’m sure.”

ARTICLE: Was Guy Fawkes the Last Honest Man to Pass through Westminster?

Hat tip: http://www.westernspring.co.uk/was-guy-fawkes-the-last-good-man-to-pass-through-westminster/

Imagine a government that would deliberately take millions away from the budget meant to educate its own nation’s children, while at the time use billions to send foreign aid to other nations who don’t need it?

That would be nothing less than treason. You cannot imagine any sane government doing such a thing. Think of, for example, China, or Japan, deliberately depriving its own people of an education while giving money to Korea? It just wouldn’t happen, because the Chinese and the Japanese would—rightly—regard that as nothing less than treason.

Of course, you guessed it: Britain’s House of Treason down by the banks of the old river, has done precisely that—and no-one seems to know or care.

The Tory-Lib-Dem-Labour party—because they are just all the same party—is busy with much-vaunted “budget cuts” to “save the economy” (after they and their big business bank cronies screwed it over in the first place) and one of the first cuts to be announced was in the education arena.

Any parent with university-age going children is well aware that uni fees have now rocketed from a manageable amount just two or three years ago, to an impossible £9,000 per year—and that is just for the tutoring fees, never mind books, resources, living allowances, residence and so on.

Even those students “lucky” enough to get loans, start off their working lives with tens of thousands of pounds of debt—an impossible burden which—even more importantly—makes starting a family next to impossible.

The nuts and bolts of the process are as follows: England’s university budgets were cut by £449 million in 2010, with similar cuts being added each following year. This means that over £1.3 billion has been cut in the last three years, and there is no end yet in sight. By the end of 2014, the total uni education budget cut will be cut by nearly £4 billion.

In practical terms, this means that the universities have had at least 6,000 fewer places each academic year.

In addition, research funding has been frozen and the uni buildings budget cut by 15 percent.

At the same time, the Government has announced that taxpayers will hand over £50.8 billion in foreign aid to the Third World by 2014. This translates to 61 percent of the total “spending review” cuts announced by the Government.

According to a press release issued by the Department for International Development (DFID), the total foreign aid budget will reach the targeted 0.7 percent of Gross National Income (GNI) by 2013.

This would mean a yearly spend of £12.6 billion, the DFID said.

This increased spending, the DFID said, is “in line with the UK’s international commitments to help those living in extreme poverty in our world. Over the course of the Spending Review period, the Department for International Development will increase resource spending by 35 percent in real terms, and increase capital spending by 20 percent in real terms.”

This means that the foreign aid budget was £8.4 billion in 2010, £8.7 billion in 2011, £9.1 billion in 2012, and will be £12.0 billion in 2013, and £12.6 billion in 2014—totalling £50.8 billion by the end of 2014.

So there you have it: cut the education budget by £4 billion, but boost the foreign aid budget by £50 billion.

Who would dare call it treason?  I for one, and I am increasingly becoming convinced that the last honest man to pass through the halls of Westminster was indeed Guy Fawkes.

(2012) Conservative Cllr. Chris Boothby -CHARGED WITH BENEFIT FRAUD

A HINCKLEY councillor has been charged with benefit fraud and will appear in court later this month.

Cllr Chris Boothby, who represents Ratby, Bagworth and Thornton on Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, is alleged to have claimed more than £1,500 in benefits, including jobseeker’s allowance, while working as a bus driver for Leicester City Council.

He has also been suspended from the Conservative party – at least until the case is concluded.

Cllr Boothby, from Ratby, is being prosecuted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) who accuse him of claiming £949 in jobseeker’s allowance, as well as £560 in housing benefit, while still getting behind the wheel of a bus to work. It is also alleged that he was claiming unemployment benefit for his wife, Tina, while she was working in a pub in Markfield.

Cllr Boothby was in hospital at the time of going to press and unable to comment.

A statement from the DWP said: “Christopher Boothby claimed jobseeker’s allowance for himself and his wife on the grounds that he was unemployed.

“Information received by the DWP indicated that Mr Boothby had been working part-time as a bus driver for Leicester City Council and his wife was working at the Plough Inn, Markfield.”

(2012) New Labour Cllr. Matt Fry -SUSPENDED AMID INVESTIGATION FOR FRAUD

A LABOUR councillor has been suspended amid allegations of fraud.

Matt Fry, Stoke-on-Trent City Council member for Weston Coyney has been suspended from his post with immediate effect after a police investigation began.

The Sentinel understands the inquiry is focussing on Mr Fry’s handling of public money.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: “We have received an allegation of fraud which we are currently investigating.

“No one has been arrested at this stage.”

Mr Fry, aged 31, who has sat on various council committees including the Staffordshire Fire Authority, was not available for comment last night.

The Stoke-on-Trent Labour Group refused to comment on the nature of the allegations, releasing a statement only to confirm Mr Fry had been suspended.

A spokesman for the group said: “We can confirm that Councillor Matt Fry has been suspended from holding office and representing the Labour Party at any level until the investigation is complete and the matter resolved.

“Suspension of a councillor is normal in these circumstances and it is not a comment on this investigation.”

The news has come as a surprise to colleagues and associates of Mr Fry, many of whom have praised his fund-raising for various good causes, including the Staffordshire Special Olympics.

Councillor Lee Wanger, who sat on the fire authority with Mr Fry, said he was surprised by the development.

The independent councillor said: “I don’t want to speculate about exactly what this could be about.

“He is a bit of a loner but a really nice bloke.

“He’s in an awkward position now where people are going to be asking questions and wondering. That’s going to be hard to live with.

“And if there’s anything I can help with then I will.”

Harry Pointon, an athletics coach who knew Mr Fry through their association with the Staffordshire Special Olympics, said: “He is full of enthusiasm and has done some great stuff as a fund-raiser.

“It wasn’t an official position but he did raise money.

“I believe councillors have money at their disposal to use.”

Sue Bourne, secretary of Weston Coyney Residents’ Association, said: “I have to say I have only met him once through my dealings with the residents’ association.

“I thought he was very young. He’s obviously inexperienced.

“He’s given the association some money from his grant.

“We got £300 which went towards setting up a fete.

“He was one of the members of the residents’ association but he didn’t come to meetings.

“I’ve communicated with him via email a bit more often.”

A spokesman for Stoke-on-Trent City Council said: “City council officers are aware of this issue.

“We understand there is an on-going police investigation and it is not appropriate for us to comment any further at this stage.”

(2012) Conservative ex-Cllr. Richard Vallery-Peters -ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF FRAUD

Richard Vallery-Peters (Tory)
Former Tory councillor Richard Vallery-Peters has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation just weeks after he met the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Richard Vallery-Peters, who lost his Hastings Borough Council seat in May, was arrested at his home in Ashburnham Road on Monday morning.
The 47-year-old former Navy rating was quizzed by detectives and later released on police bail.
His arrest relates to the wearing of military medals.
Sussex Police spokesman Andy Freeman said: “On Monday morning, police arrested a 47-year-old man from Hastings.
“He was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation. He was given police bail until August 6.”

ARTCLE: Met Police Say M,P.s Can Claim for Fake Offices

Denis MacShane has had his police investigation dropped. It was triggered in October 2010 after the Parliamentary authorities suspected him of fraud due to the £125,000 in rent that he claimed for a constituency office that turned out to be the grotty garage at the end of his garden. He also put in a plethora of invoices for translation services, paid in cash. To his brother Edmund Matyjaszek.

Guido suspected this announcement would be coming after he was tipped that the specialist crime cops that investigated MPs expenses had all been transferred to Operation Weeting and the associated investigations. MacShane will not get the opportunity to ever clear his name in court, instead the enduring image that remains in the public mind will be this:

ARTICLE AND VIDEO: Fraud, Corruption, Labour-run Sheffield City Council, and Sir Bob Kerslake -INSTITUTIONAL FRAUD

A major city with a £1.8 billion budget, fraud within Sheffield has affected both national and European funding streams.

Sir Bob Kerslake

Yesterday’s UK Column Live investigated allegations of institutional and financial corruption within Sheffield City Council that has swallowed £millions of public money and defrauded ordinary taxpayers.

OLAF, the European Fraud Office, not only failed to tackle financial abuses, but also assisted in the cover-up.

It was alleged Sheffield Chief Executive Bob Kerslake, now head of the Civil Service, assisted this dirty process.

Not only has the Audit Commission failed to clean up the city, they have acted with a common purpose to protect the Council and key people – including implicated Common Purpose graduates.

Whistleblowers exposing the crimes report that they have been seriously harassed and threatened over many years to shut them up. One of these brave people agreed to speak out on UK Column live.

(2012) Liberal Democrat M.P. Danny Alexander -TAX CHEATING

Following the Jimmy Carr crash last week Danny Alexander took to our screens to attack tax avoiders. That’s the very same Danny Alexander who conned the Treasury out of over £100,000 by flipping his home back during the expenses scandal. Beaker shamelessly registered the property as his second home when he became an MP in 2005, despite admitting to Revenue and Customs that it was in fact his main residence. The trick allowed him to claim over £37,000 of taxpayers’ money doing up the London pad over the following two years. In 2007 Danny then sold up for £300,000, using a tax loophole to avoid paying the then 40% capital gains tax. His accountant certainly earned his – or should that be our – money.

Now Alexander is laying into the likes of Carr and Gary Barlow, lambasting tax avoiders as the moral equivalent of benefits cheats. People in flipped houses…

(2012) Conservative Cllr. Sandy (Maurice) Ezekeil -FRAUD, ABUSE OF POSITION, MISCONDUCT

A former town hall leader accused of fraud and misconduct in a public office will not be suspended from sitting on the council.

Cllr Sandy Ezekiel, who represents the Clitonville East ward for the Conservative Party on Thanet District Council, was charged this week with fraud by abuse of position.

The 59-year-old – real name Maurice –of Crow Hill, Broadstairs, was also charged with misconduct in a public office.

Officers from the Serious Economic Crime Unit of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate also charged 64-year-old Philip Emanuel, of Laleham Gardens, Margate, with aiding and abetting fraud by abuse of position.

Despite the criminal investigation, a council spokeswoman said the authority would not be suspending Cllr Ezekiel from his elected position.

“This is an outstanding criminal matter that is being dealt with by the police,” she said.

Shadow Tory leader Cllr Robert Bayford said no decision had yet been made on whether Cllr Ezekiel would be suspended from the party.

“We haven’t addressed that yet; it’s something the Conservative group in Thanet and the Conservative Party will have to review,” he said.

Police say the alleged offences are related to a property in King Street, Margate, between September 2009 and February 2011.

Senior Crown Prosecutor with the CPS South East Complex Casework Unit Ken Goss said he advised Kent Police to charge the two men.
